What: 1st Annual Stevens Pass Snowskate Round-Up
When: February 15, 2003
Where: Stevens Pass Winter Resort
Why: Because Snowskating is damn fun!

Why Stevens Pass?

As you may be aware The Bi-Deck Snowskate was invented here at Stevens Pass almost 10 years ago now and we have a great local crew who are very into snowskating. Our snowskate park has been open for two seasons now and is getting more and more popular every year. This year has been especially good because of the low/late snow and it seems that more people are looking for new ways to goof around on snow. Our park has snow and man-made features including a 20' straight rail, dragon box, and C rail. I have personally spent many hours there and in front of my own house working on my backside board-slide to shove-it. And we are only 78 miles NE of Seattle, with over 500,000 skier visits per season.

Our event is going to be placed front and center in the base area and will be viewable from all three of our day lodges as well as from any point within the base area. We will have music and an M.C. calling the show to build on the scene and the fun for the riders and competitors. Our Snowskate park crew is building our contest park as we speak and it should be great.

How will it run?

The contest format is unique as well it will go like this:

We will have single and dual deck categories Each group will be split into 3 person jam heats, one person advances to semi-finals from each. Each heat will have 15 minutes to jam on a portion of the park. Semi finals will follow same format with one person from each heat advancing. Finals will be H.O.R.S.E. format, yep just like on the basketball court. Each finalist will have to call their trick and then the others will have to match it. Last one standing with the fewest letters wins.

We are planning this a totally fun event that should have a really fun flow and vibe with it. Spectators will be able to watch this event for the majority of the day and really get exposed/immersed in the snowskate scene.
