I'm trying to organize an event @ http://www.bigwhite.com/ Kelowna BC for the last weekend of February 2012. I have the blessing of the resorts park director to build a banked slalom (we have the perfect spot as they are not building the super pipe and our event would be held there). On top of that he is letting me (and anyone who wants to help) design some skate specific features for our park which would be another aspect of our event. This section would be away from the main park so we can get creative with it. Might not be huge but a quarter pipe hip combo, proper tables and some street features. I dunno how much we're gonna get but it will be good (we still have the other park to ride year round too). I'm putting this out there now cause I would like to get everybody on board. The http://www.facebook.com/pages/Neil-Edgeworth-Memorial-Banked-Slalom/199427820076335 is also gonna be open to us in some format. I do realize that this conflicts with some of the existing events but if some can't make it to those you are more than welcome to this one. At Big White you are right in the middle of the hill. It's a true ride in ride out village. Ride and stay packages are about $100 per day per person which is easy to save up for when given this much time. I'm rambling on here but Big White and our park director/events coordinator, Flynn, have been so supportive of the skate it will be a great time for sure. Prizes and entry fees will be revealed as I get feedback. I hope to hear from you all and build what could be a great Canadian yearly event.  Snowskate gang.

The good folks at Island snow Kelowna http://www.islandsnow.ca/ are on board and will have some goodies for participants. The ball is rolling. entry fee will be minimum $5 to $10 to cover bbq or feed in the lodge depending on weather. A banked slalom, might also be able to get use of the bordercross course and a jam style park sess, very chill, riders decide amongst ourselves who gets what for that one. Also hope the small pipe will be done by then (this year it was ready in early march). Once that's done we just go shred the resort. Lots of great terrain and at that time of year usually good fresh snow.

ok so the date is set. sat feb 25th. The main events will be a banked slalom men/women prizes and a jam format park sess rails hip table. I am open to suggestions on the park features. It would actually be appreciated. 25$ entry fee all moneys will go towards cash prizes for the slalom and jam depending on the amount of entry's. everyboby is guaranteed to get something with gloves t -shirts ect. the bigger stuff will go to class and event 1st 2nd 3rd. would love to hear from anybody interested in joining us. I thought sat would be good that way everyone can make their way home on sunday after we rip up the hill real good. So far we have Island snow, easyrider, Ralston, A few others i need to confirm. Thank you everybody for the support!

We can always find huge floaters at any resort. I'm thinking more skatepark than snowboard park. Scale things down a little bit.

Some good hips and short kickers for practicing flip tricks would be cool. I find that most features in a snowboard park aren't great at providing loft.

A good mix of ride-on and ollie-in boxes/rails would make it accessible, while still challenging for more accomplished skaters. A step up feature would be pretty sick...

I'm really looking forward to this event. Thanks for organizing.
