Fellow snowskaters, just wondering do u guys take the ski off of ur deck to hotwax or do u just loosen up the base truck bolts then hotwax. I just loosen up the bolts then hotwax my ski sub.

Neither. I just wax it without loosening anything. Why would you need to take the ski off?

I suspect that if u don't loosen up the bolts the heat from the iron will suck the bolts in the base of the ski, uneven base, weird marks etc. I don't keep them tight when I wax, just like in snowboarding they say loosen up the bolts or take bindings off, if u don't there be some base problems on the board. Also hotwaxing does a better job than doing the crayon method. But between sessions I do the crayon method.

LOL, I dont know why but I just cold wax the shit out of my snowskate with ski wax (the ones for flat surfaces and walking around on skis... I dont know the name of the sport in english lol)
and it works wonderfully... maybe it was beginners luck though...

You take really good care of your equipment. I am pretty rough on the bases but, from now on I am going to loosen the bolts when I wax.
