Sick stuff.  I guess i get a surprise cover, haha, thanks!

however, one thing to consider as you expand your magazine is that it is always appreciated if not expected that a publisher would ask permission of the photographers whose shots get printed.  I know its an online magazine so this expectation isn't so obvious as it is in print, however it would be the respectful thing to do, especially to maintain good relationships with all your photographers.  I know certain companies provided the photos, but technically they don't transfer the rights to the magazine unless it's an advertisement, and we as the photographer still maintain the rights to the photo, thus bringing about the necessity for asking photographer's permission.

That being said, I would have given you permission to use my photo of bjorn in the article, but yeah its something for you to consider...

It's not really complaining, I am just saying that just because a company sends you photos does not mean you automatically have permission to print them.  I suppose this turns into a sort of hypothetical situation because the "printing" is actually an internet release, but this does still apply.  Ambition owns rights to the photos but these rights don't automatically transfer if they are given to someone else.  A company cannot grant rights for another human.

If anything, I am trying to help you and the snowskate industry for the future.  I like your magazine so far and I wouldn't want to see you blow it because of forgetting photographic courtesy.  I know that the internet has made it easy to throw photos around every which way and use any photo for whatever, however photographer's rights of ownership do still exist and it might do everyone well to take this into consideration, especially given the small size of the industry.

yeah, well this should maybe be discussed in private since we can't do anything for you alan... but I do agree that asking for permission should always be practiced for publications of any sort.

Nonetheless, we are such a small group and community that it does not infringe yet any real life and economic rules because of the "family business" format that there is for now in the snowskating scene.

Personally, I would be flattered to involuntary participate in the snowskating scene by being robed of some of my shots. It's like charity for a good cause.

it's not like he used your image for some random products placement...

(my opinion, and I still respect copyright and author protection... you have all my respect for trying to keep yourself alive in this capitalist society)

Honestly I dont understand the attitude in this forum.  Snowskating is REALLY small. It needs exposure and creativity.
(I have been in the boardsport industry for more than 12 years now and I never knew possible to see the day  a rider has shit to talk about when getting a mag cover  ….)

We are now in an era that offers great opportunities for global communication with different medium avalaible for self expression. The people behind Slope (and even if I participe in this project, it is not my creation) put a lot of  time and sweat in these 2 online issues.  This mag is simply another great catalyst for riders around the globe who share the same passion. And nobody is making money out of this.
It may be time for us to put our small egos on the side for a minute  to embrace  and enjoy the work of other (movies, photography, snowskate equipment, magazines, etc)
